18th Century Purple Floral Toile Quilted Fragment

$225.00

This is one of my very favorite finds! It dates to the late 1700’s. It is clearly a fragment salvaged from a damaged quilt. This piece measures 24 1/2” by 36”. The background is a soft cream and the floral motif is a wonderful purplish brown. I love the variety of flowers and their delicate vines. It does have some issues as one would expect for a textile with this much age. There are a few “rubbed” spots,a couple of faded areas, a few small holes and a little bit of discoloration. I’ve shown all of these in the photos. The back is a loosely woven linen. This piece is quilted and is unfinished. The edges have been cut.
