English Hunting Toile Early 19th Century
English Hunting Toile Early 19th Century
I have not been able to find this toile to know it’s proper name, date or country of origin. It is linen and this piece measures 24” by 34” but it is not a selvage width. The repeat is every 10 1/2”. This piece is 3 repeats. From previous toiles that I have owned I believe it is English, most likely Marshall and Sons. I also believe it is from the first quarter of the 19th Century. This piece was clearly previously sewn but there are no signs of quilting so my guess is curtains. It is fragile so should be a study piece or a piece for a collector, not to sew. There are a few holes and a little bit of discoloration. I have shown all of these in the photos..
