Here is a wonderful earlt French toile panel. The toile was manufactured in Normandy and is titled la toilette de ‘amour. I believe it to be from the late 18th Century. And I believe it was part of a bed hanging. The overall fading of the panel compared to the corners help to support this. This piece is backed with an off white linen and is simply quilted for stability. It does show some wear as one would expect from a textile of this age. There are two small holes which I’ve shown in the last two photos. It measures 46 inches by 61 inches, All of the edges are finished.
