Here is a wonderful crisp unused toile de Jouy. The title is “Scenes from domestic life”. I’m sure that this print is 19th century but I think later rather than earlier. Here’s why. This toile was originally printed in the early 19th century. It can be found in the book Toiles de Jouy Printed Textiles in the Classic French Style on page 176. The description of that toile has the repeat occuring every 35.5cm which is about 14”. This toile repeats at 44.5cm or 17 1/2”. I also notice in the book’s toile the frames for the smaller images are both circular and rectangular. In this toile all of the frames are circular or oval. I do know that often there would be slight variations to styles. Since we don’t know the manufacturer it is hard to know the exact date. The selvage width is 31” which does indicate still the 19th century. This piece is 38” in length.

The only things I see condition wise are the lower edge has been cut (visible in the photos) and there are some tiny tan age spots in two of the frames on the left side. They did not show up in the photos.
