Hunting Toile circa 1870

$125.00

Here is a wonderful French hunting toile, circa 1870. The primary scene is framed with a vine border. There is a smaller scene of a dog looking into the rabbit's den. A strip of scroll work separates the primary panels and have dogs and birds inset into the scrolls. The primary colors are a vibrant red, gray and a creamy white with shadings of a pinkish red. It measures 32" by 38". The sides indicate that this was once hand sewn to another piece but there is no indication of quilting. The upper and lower edges have been pinked. I have two pieces. One has one tiny hole visible in the photo. The other piece is perfect. This would make an absolutely gorgeous pillow. Please message me if you have any questions. I am happy to ship internationally but will need to calculate those costs.
