Purple Figural and Floral Toile Mid 19th Century

$125.00

Here is a gorgeous deep purple toile. It is 31” selvage width and 26” long with a repeat at 20”. I believe this to be a European toile. The oval framed figural scenes were common in both French and English toiles. The gentleman is playing the bagpipes which may give a clue. There is also a name that I believe is likely the engraver’s name. I think it says “A. Hickmann” but I’m not 100 percent and haven’t found anything helpful yet in my research. The last two photos show the name. I welcome any knowledge anyone has!
